Joanna Piotrowska (b.1985, Warsaw), is a London-based photographer whose staged black-and-white works examine intimacy, power, and emotional dependency within domestic and social spaces. Educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and the Royal College of Art, she constructs psychologically charged images that explore how relationships are shaped by control, vulnerability, and unspoken social codes. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Museum of Modern Art, Tate Britain, Kunsthalle Basel, the 10th Berlin Biennale, and the 59th Venice Biennale.

For her edition at ARCH, Piotrowska presents a collage of two gelatin silver prints: an intimate close-up of two figures in an ambiguous embrace paired with a rose secured by a lock and key. The juxtaposition recalls key bodies of work such as Frowst (2013) and her 2022 ARCH exhibition Sub Rosa, reinforcing her ongoing investigation of closeness, secrecy, and psychological tension.
